Terrible packaging and even worse customer support

This hood sounded like a great addition to my kitchen. Unfortunately it came in damaged and the vendor I purchased it from was unable to get any stock from LG even though it was available. To make things worse LG refused to replace it. The main issue is the poor packaging. The padding on the top is so firm that it doesnt allow any compression whatsoever so any weight placed on top of the box is transmitted down and into the hood itself. The weak point is where the hood flares out and it gets crushed. There was no visible damage to the box at all so the only way to know is to thoroughly inspect it. Im sure many people are like me and have a contractor doing the kitchen work so the hood may sit idle for a while before they are ready to install but they require you to notify them of any damage within 48 hours of receiving the item. I found it a week after it was delivered and LG chose to play hot potato between them and the vendor instead of just making it right and replacing it. Even though a rep from LG said it was not serviceable they forced me to set up an appointment for a technician to come look at it and see if it could be repaired. The technician was smart and asked for pictures before the appointment and said it was not serviceable and tried to submit his report but LG rejected it due to a missing code in the report and said I still needed to have them come out. On the appointment date I was eventually told that LG was not going to make it right and to return it to the retailer who cant replace it for me. Save your time and frustration and just go with a different hood.

Frustrating and idiotic user interface - avoid

I recently bought a house that has one of these installed. It looks good the fan is quiet and the two level lighting is appreciated. Thats the good part. This hood has at least two severe design problems. 1. The switches that control the lights and fan are just touch surfaces with silkscreen legends as far as I can tell. And they dont work. I mean sometimes they work - for example if I wipe off fingerprints near the touch zone with a cloth the fan goes crazy turning on and off as I wipe. But if I actually want to turn the fan on/off I can press 20 times or more and the hood just ignores the input. Cant turn it on or if I do somehow manage to turn it on cant turn it off again. Idiotic and frustrating. The light button is similarly dysfunctional. There is no good reason to design a product like this other than some engineers love of whiz-bang doodads something Korea is renowned for. A simple switch is reliable and has been controlling fans and lights for more than a century. Stupid decision to go with an idiotic and malfunctioning touch interface. 2. The hood features a wi-fi interface. WHY?? Its a range hood not a surgical robot. This is absurd. However since I couldnt get the buttons to work I decided to try the wi-fi interface so I can I hope shut the dang fan off using the app if the button wont do it. Well that failed too. Getting it into wi-fi search mode is the first challenge because it involves pressing an holding the Light button for three seconds. Well you can imagine how that went given item 1 above. Once I managed that I tried three times to connect to my iPhone using the LG Thinq app and following the directions exactly. It tries and tries and then fails to connect. Every time. Perhaps Im doing something wrong. Or perhaps this interface is just as flaky and dumb as the button interface. Just as an aside - I worked as an electronics engineer in Silicon Valley for more than 40 years. So I know a bit about this stuff. This hood design is an excellent example of what I call needless complexity unneeded whiz-bang features that provide no benefit but drive you nuts when they dont work right. Given my years of experience I NEVER would have chosen this product simply because I know those touch buttons would drive me nuts and indeed they do. The app is useless so it looks like Im stuck using the nonfunctional buttons that take 20+ presses to work. More likely I wont even try to use the fan or light and will eventually rip this piece of garbage out of my home and replace it with something sane. Maybe even American made this hood is made in Taiwan. If you are considering installing one of these or any other LG smart appliance in your home I STRONGLY suggest that you look elsewhere. This thing will drive you crazy - guaranteed.

LG has no regard to honor their warranty

I purchased LG 30 Wall Mount Chimney Model HCED3015S. As I have a contractor who is managing kitchen renovation I could not check the appliance within two days. The contractor opened the box when he was ready to install and proper ducting had been installed. The hood appears to have some damage as you can in the picture. I have tried to contact repair by phone and LG.com. Phone puts into a never ending loop and I have wasted many hours over the last 7 days. Same result on LG.com as live agent never is available. This is gross as LG does not appear to have any regard for their customers. I have seen their nice replies to similar customer reviews and I am sure I will get similar response. It is disgusting. Worst instructions ever. I would never buy LG hood ever again. How hard is it to put one picture of recirculating installation? What is a diverter plate how does it look? Where do I buy the charcoal filter from? come this should be a 30 minute install and now it is turning into 4 hour so far research.

Dented once box opened

Purchased hood 9 months ago for remodel and just opened it up. Box was undamaged but when we opened it the front of the hood was dented. Its past return time local car dent repair shop wont touch it. Guess were stuck with a dented hood. This appears to be a packaging issue by LG fore I am not the first one to make this type of comment.

Terrible Customer Service

In September 2023 I ordered all new LG appliances washer dryer refrigerator dish washer range stove range hood for my new construction home I am building. I received them on December 15 2023 and all appliances are working great so far EXCEPT for the range hood. I have not installed the range hood because I am looking for a duct cover extension to allow the range hood to fit 11 duct height for a vaulted ceiling kitchen. I have contacted LG Customer Support 4 times now since December 18th. Each time I call I am passed for 3-4 different people and all of them say I need to be talking with the Range Hood Department but no one is able to transfer me to that department. They all come back on the line and state they need to email that department and the range hood department will call and email me within 24-48hrs. I still have not heard a word from the Range Hood department and I am becoming frustrated. I purchased all LG to keep the same appliance brand throughout the new house. I usually purchase GE but have heard great things about LG. Products seem to work great besides the range hood but their customer service is terrible so far. I am hoping this review prompts a call from LG so I can get this figured out. I would like to be able to use all my appliances I have purchased.
