Planned obsolescence in a shiny box

Definitely avoid this one. Ours stopped working after 4 years. No repair shops in my area even the ones personally recommended by LG will touch it. A component on the PCB the main control board on the back blew apart and left burn marks on the metal cover. Even after replacing it for $170 the refrigerator still wont work. And after 20 days LG is still refusing to make things right. Do yourself a favor and shop around

I used to purchase LG products however this refrigerator freezer has been a let down. The compressor failed after 3+ years. The cost to repair is comparable to a new unit. Im moving away from LG completely. Class action lawsuit on Linear Compressors for a reason. Maybe Ill join the suit.

Cleaning issue

I bought this refrigerator in January of 2025.It has been functioning well.I like the Ice maker as far as cube shape and size and the capacity of the ice tray.Yesterday my wife went to clean the shelf that is directly above the vegetable drawer.The glass that makes the shelf is not removable and there is liquid between the glass and the plastic frame .Very poor design .The whole lower shelving system will have to be removed and I will have to try to spray it off outside and hope it will be clean one thing is for sure it will not be as clean as I would like it .

Poor Quality Incorrect Manual Horrible Service

After purchasing LG products for 20 years this refrigerator was the last one. The owners manual ON THIS PAGE has the wrong part number to replace the water filter. Which made me order the wrong water filter 6 of them. LG chat service was simply horrible. Their only response was you should have ordered from LG.com Simply unbelievable. I showed screenshots of their manual listing the wrong part number and the parrot on the other end could only say you should have ordered from us. Nevermind the fact that literally hundreds of other websites and dealers are authorized to sell LG replacement filters. I wasted at least 30 minutes and gave up. Point being if you have to order any filters dont trust the manual. Pull it out of the fridge and double check. As for the fridge itself its not great at least not what you might expect for $1500. We randomly have items freeze while its set to medium. The drawers feel flimsy and one has already cracked after just 9 months. The water dispenser is painfully slow even when the filter was new. The ice maker motor is really loud and sounds like it is struggling to function. The fingerprint-proof stainless steel has fingerprints all over it. After purchasing an LG Washing machine clothes dryer refrigerator dishwasher multiple televisions and who knows what else Im done. Theyve lost a lifelong customer due to the product quality plummeting and the horrible customer service.

If I could return it I would. For this amount of money and no printless material choice except stainless steel is maddening S.S. was soooo 2016 Bottom deep freeze freezer divider is a nightmare to remove. The sliding storage freezer drawer that sits on top of the deep drawer is horribly clunky to open. It does not glide smoothly. If you want to extend it out you have to pull it up forward hopefully keeping it on the track.

Terrible customer service from LG

Terrible LG service 4/8/2025

The main cooling fan motor stopped working after about year and a half. Order repair from LG service. The fan was repaired at the total cost for $413 which is about 25 of the total cost for the refrigerator. I revived the repair receipt with the misspelled first name. I need this receipt to apply for the extended warranty benefits on my credit card. I called LG support 4 times asking to correct this mistake. You would expect this this will be a simple deal. No. Each time I was told that the management will work on this issue and I will receive the corrected receipt within 1 to 2 bogusness days. This never happened. I cannot claim the extended warranty now. I do not know what to do with LG in this case - I do not have other options of getting the receipt corrects except of maybe suing them.

Faulty Compressor. 2nd Frig in 9 years same issue

I bought this Refrigerator to replace a different LG refrigerator that the compressor failed in 4.5 years. LG later had a lawsuit which settled in court for faulty compressors on my old refrigerator never received a penny even though I had tracked the lawsuit somehow missed it. I have now had this refrigerator which replaced the old one for 4.5 years and the compressor is dead again. LG is sending a company to repair that has a 1.5 star satisfaction rating. Trying to find someone else but so far hasnt happened. Now another lawsuit brewing again because of bad. The lawsuit is asserting that compressor failure is a known flaw and company has fraudulently manufactured and is continuing to manufacture a faulty compressor and placing in LG refrigerators. It is still happening even after a settled lawsuit So sad because I do love my LG refrigerator. Their configuration on the interior is above all the rest. Am pleading with LG PLEASE figure this out. Stop pretending you care about the consumer and start making a longer lasting appliance so that we know you are a honest reliable company. Will be getting this one fixed because still under warranty but believe me I will be back to update. Good or Bad. If good then I will buy LG again. If bad will be contacting Consumer Reports to remove from recommended buy list.

Faulty Condenser

My LG refrigerator lasted 3 years and 8 months before the condenser stopped working. I have to now buy a new refrigerator and it certainly wont be another LG. Repair man said LG is known for failing condensers and the same from sales person selling me a new refrigerator.

I have not been able to find an appliance repair service in our area that is willing or able to work on LG appliances - I certainly wish I would have known that BEFORE purchasing LG customer service could not help either. Defective Finishes on 2 Sets of Doors

We took delivery of an LG 22 CF stainless steel french door frig Model # LFCC224265 in Oct. 2022. Within 8 months the finish on the doors where the bottoms of the handles attach started to develop indelible and irregular shaped spotting despite only ever being cleaned with a damp sponge. LG replaced the doors under warranty. Less than a year later the same spotting problem manifested on the replacement doors My warranty demand letter for re-replacement to LG with Email copy to its attorneys has been completely ignored for 4+ months. When you spend over $2000 for a stainless steel refrigerator you expect to receive a product whose exterior finish does not develop ugly spots. I recommend staying away from LG when shopping for any stainless steel refrigerator..

Fridge is less than two years old. Fan for ice maker is bad. LG wants $450 simply to schedule service-about 30 of cost new. Bad part horrible customer service. Decent fridge. Would not buy LG again. Did I mention that the chat agent disconnected when I simply tried to order the part?

What a terrible experience. the fridge stopped cooling. it took LG 10 days to get a repairman to repair it. Then after the man left about 2 weeks later the machine started making a very loud noise. i called back and they said Well thats not under warranty. clearly they did not fix the machine properly and LG wont take responsibility for the faulty repair. i spent hours on the phone with them and it tore my heart out trying to explain that to the people.

Solid choice for a smaller space

We bought a 22 cu ft. after owning a 28 cu ft. for many years. It is a French door refrigerator. Overall it is great. Only two issues. The side storage container space options are limited so you cannot store many tall items especially at the top shelves. Also the guide on the left hand door that helps the doord seal upon closing often opens in a half open position so when you close the left door it hits the right hand door. You should not have to even think about it but I do now so I dont damage the guide.

Spacious and space saving

Bought this unit to replace a 33 inch wide side by side this LG is roomier inside while being only 30 inches wide. Temperatures in both refrigerator and freezer are accurate and hold within 2 degrees. I love the flexibility with shelves and drawers. The only minor issue is if you collect magnets on your refrigerator they wont stick to the front doors of this unit I attached some thin sheets of a magnetic grade of stainless with 3M double sided tape to take care of that. I am extremely happy with this LG product overall.

Fridge and freezer both quit working after 4 years. LG stated that they would fix it for free but they dont have people in the area to fix it. It took over two weeks for them to find someone and by then we already a purchased a new refrigerator.

Needed $460 repairs in just 2 years

Fridge started having issues 2 years after purchase and an LG repair person is $460 I had a 3rd party repair person come in and just a cooling fan is $230 and labor is another $220. The repair person said do not buy LG because they break and the parts are expensive. Lesson learned.

This is our first of this style refrigerator we had our previous old style freezer on top two door for 36 years. I cant find anything at all wrong with this fridge. We are on a well and the ice maker is working super great. It is the same size as one we had for a long time but it seems like there is more room. I find it easier to arrange that the old style we had. I love that the freezer is 0 degrees and the fridge section is 37 degrees. We do both notice how much colder our food is. And our grapes have lasted longer than before staying crisp. I think we are falling in love with our new LG refrigerator.

We purchased the LG French Door Refrigerator just over a year ago along with several other LG appliances when we bought our home. Initially we were excited about our investment in what we thought were high-quality products. However our experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. Two weeks after the warranty expired yes just TWO WEEKS the refrigerator started making a strange noise. When we contacted LG support we were told they couldnt help because the warranty had expired. Instead they referred us to a third-party repair company. This company claimed they needed to order parts to fix the fridge but hadnt even inspected it to determine the issuesomething that didnt make much sense to us. Fast forward two weeks to todayThanksgivingand our fridge has completely stopped cooling. I am literally sitting here in tears hosting a special dinner for family and friends with no working fridge and no way to store all the food we prepared. It is absolutely outrageous that a refrigerator this expensive and from a brand as reputable as LG would malfunction after just one year of use. Whats even worse is LGs lack of accountability. After spending thousands of dollars on LG appliances the fact that they couldnt extend a helping hand for a problem that arose so shortly after the warranty expired is beyond disappointing. Their dismissive attitude shows they care more about profits than their customers. We trusted LG for our home and they let us down. I will never purchase another LG product again and Ill make sure to share this experience with others to prevent them from going through the same ordeal. Buyers bewareif youre looking for reliability and customer care look elsewhere.
